- Learn the cause, symptoms and different types of PCOS
- Learn ways to help clients navigate weight stigma in healthcare
settings - Learn ways to help clients with PCOS using weight neutral non-diet
and Health At Every Size® perspectives - Understand the relationship PCOS has with eating disorders
- Understand common misconceptions about PCOS and ways to counter them
About the Presenter:
Julie Bowman, MS RD LMHC is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a private practice in Vancouver, Washington.
- She specializes in working with people with eating disorders and disordered eating, including those that want to stop dieting and/or explore non-diet approaches for other health conditions including PCOS, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, depression and anxiety.
- She also really enjoys working with kids and teens with eating disorders and their families using a combination of Family Based Treatment (FBT) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
- She uses a weight-inclusive, non-diet, whole person approach that integrates Health At Every Size®, Intuitive Eating®, and mindfulness philosophies.
- Her Masters Degree is in Health Psychology and she has been a dietitian since 2003 and a licensed mental health counselor since 2010.
- She is also an adjunct instructor at Portland State University, co-teaching a class, developed by Lindsey Schuhmacher, called Every Body Matters: Embracing Size Diversity.
