I am a thin, white, straight-ish person who identifies as female. My work (and passion) is largely about giving marginalized folx a voice and helping them find empowerment. Recognizing my
privilege is something I have practiced for a while now, however I had not experienced my privilege – specifically, my thinness – closing the door on my ability to be an ally to the communities I serve until more recently. After creating room for confusion, fear, and contemplation, one of the questions that remained was – “Is it possible to be a thin fat-activist?” I set out to answer this question, and while I recognized answering it will be a continued learning-process and journey, I wanted to start the conversation.
