Janet Kindschuh, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Janet trained under and performed with a professional ballet company outside of Chicago, IL, for 13 years. She moved to Atlanta, GA, to attend Emory University where she completed her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and also her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Janet has been an outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapist since 2006. Early in her career, her clinical specialty was sports rehabilitation, working with dancers and athletes. Janet moved to Portland, OR, in 2015 and has evolved her practice of physical therapy to include a thorough understanding of Health At Every Size (HAES). Over the past few years, she has gained significant experience caring for patients who present with persistent pain, serving on the Persistent Pain Team, and speaking at the Pain Symposium in 2017. Janet approaches her care through a size-inclusive, trauma informed, and social justice framework. She loves developing strong relationships with her patients through Motivational Interviewing, empathic listening, and compassion. Education is an essential part of her practice, and she has served as a clinical instructor and a professional mentor. Janet is working to integrate physical therapy into eating disorder recovery to help patients develop safe and intuitive relationships with movement and their bodies. This work is very close to her heart since she has suffered from an eating disorder for over 25 years and has been in recovery since 2013. Janet has been married to her husband, Jeff, for over 11 years, and together they have a four year old daughter, Ella. Janet enjoys hiking, swimming, traveling, reading, sports, and spending time with her family and friends, especially outdoors.
