Hi! I’m Willa Shaw, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon, with over five years of experience in eating disorder treatment, including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, integrated primary care, and outpatient mental health. I support people navigating eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, and the ways these struggles can affect daily life, relationships, and sense of self.

I work with teens, college students, and young adults experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating, including anorexia, ARFID, bulimia, and eating related concerns that may not fit neatly into a diagnosis. My approach is weight-inclusive and Health at Every Size informed, grounded in the understanding that eating disorders are complex and deserve care that goes beyond food, weight, or appearance alone. I also recognize how chronic illness, neurodivergence, anxiety, perfectionism, and life transitions can intersect with eating and body image concerns.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, relational, and practical. I draw from ACT, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Compassion Focused Therapy, adapting these approaches to each person’s needs rather than expecting someone to fit a particular model. I want clients to feel understood and respected while also having room to work toward meaningful change. Recovery can involve learning to manage distress, loosening the grip of rigid rules and self-criticism, developing a more flexible relationship with food and movement, and reconnecting with relationships, interests, and parts of life that may have been pushed aside.

I believe people deserve care that takes their experiences seriously without reducing them to a diagnosis or making assumptions about their health based on their body size. I aim to create a space where clients can be honest about ambivalence, fear, and setbacks without judgment, while receiving support and appropriate challenge as they work toward recovery. I also value collaboration with other members of a client’s care team, including medical providers and dietitians.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my three cats, spending time in nature, reading, and seeing musicals.
