I specialize in working with adults and teens (16+) who struggle with anxiety, depression, eating disorders and/or body image concerns. I came into this profession after recovering from my own eating disorder over twenty years ago. Once I found myself on the other side I realized I wanted to help others find their own path to freedom. There isn’t one approach that works for everyone. Therapy for me is a collaborative process. I enjoy getting creative and finding a framework that best serves each client.

Marena highly values honoring each person’s journey and story while providing services to individuals struggling with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, anxiety, trauma, new and/or stressful transitions, and adversity. She also works with clients struggling with a sense of self/identity, difficulty communicating, and lack of connection. Marena’s work stems from the belief that a fully recovered life from an eating disorder is possible for any individual through exploration, personal narratives, and strengthening a sense of worthiness and self-compassion. It is also her belief that these same ways support clients struggling with body image, anxiety, relationships, emotion regulation, and so much more.
Marena’s clinical approach focuses on fostering healing through authenticity, building connection, and shame resilience; and specifically works through the feminist theory lens. Self-compassion, self-worth, radical acceptance, and mindfulness are core components to Marena’s approach, while also incorporating evidence-based practices such as DBT, CBT, and Psychodynamic Therapy.

My practice is tailored toward high-functioning professional women who struggle with issues of overachieving, poor body image, low self-esteem and imposter syndrome. Typically, these concerns coalesce with a lack of good self-care and present in the form of over-working, putting others' needs above her own and often result in ineffective coping strategies such as emotional eating, substance use and dysregulated sleep.
I work with clients to help restore balance to thoughts and behaviors, in an effort to help move them toward valued living.

I offer individual nutrition counseling for those struggling in their relationship with food. My practice is rooted in the belief that true food freedom is possible and guided by the principles of Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating. Whether exploring your relationship with food for the first time or stuck in the cycle of disordered eating, I can help. Sessions range from meal plan accountability to replacing the lies of diet culture with a value-aligned food philosophy of your own to riffing on the nostalgic power of Poptarts. I have a subspecialty in gut health and can provide support with GI concerns through a weight-neutral and anti-diet lens. Reach out to see if we're a good fit!
