I have been working in the field of eating disorders since 2013, supporting clients in residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care. I am passionate about helping people cultivate better relationships with food and learn to trust their bodies again (or maybe for the first time ever). My areas of expertise include disordered eating/eating disorders, diet burnout, pre-natal and post-partum nutrition, and weight-neutral, non-diet management of PCOS. As a Certified Body Image Coach and a Health at Every Size® practitioner, I pride myself on creating a space that is safe for all bodies.

Hello! I'm Dr. Michelle, a naturopathic physician currently offering telehealth services and licensed in both OR and WA. I am also affiliated with Advantage Health Collective and can see patients in person in Longview, WA or through my private practice at www.michelleritoland.com. I graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine in 2021 with my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. While at NUNM, I participated in additional coursework in Integrative Mental Health, Eating Disorders, and Cranio-Sacral Therapy. I honor each patient's journey and will take the time necessary to get to know and understand you to assess for the root cause of any acute or chronic symptoms. My evaluation may include specialized laboratory testing and referrals to specialists if necessary. I offer comprehensive treatment plans that address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of my patients and collaborate with them to find the treatment that best fits their current needs and resources. I offer botanical medicine, homeopathy, flower essence therapy, nutraceutical recommendations, lifestyle modification coaching, and prescription medications as necessary. I am passionate about treating people equitably, finding and treating the underlying cause of disease, and helping you bring peace into your relationships with yourself and your body as well as your relationship with food. As a larger bodied person first and a medical provider second I understand the challenges faced by those of us who struggle with fatphobia in medicine and work diligently to provide the best possible care through a HAES and Intuitive Eating perspective.

All people are welcome here. Together we can create a space for exploration and healing. We want to specifically state a welcome to all folks living in marginalized bodies. We work from an anti-oppression lens and feel strongly that we must openly acknowledge the privilege in our bodies and the power we hold as providers in order to do our best to create that healing environment.

I specialize in working with adults of all genders dealing with eating disorders and all that accompanies them: trauma, anxiety, depression, as well as spirituality and identity development. In session, we use a person-centered approach, and often incorporate principles of attachment/psychodynamic theory as well as skills and tools from CBT and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and Radically Open DBT. Sociological and multicultural perspectives can also help us understand the beliefs we hold about ourselves. Most importantly, no one understands a client better than the client themselves - I see it as my job to help you, by your side.

Bio
Hi there - I’m Mariah! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western New England University and my master’s degree in counseling psychology from American International College. I am currently working on my master’s of science in Kinesiology with a concentration in sport and exercise psychology from University of North Carolina - Greensboro. I recieved EMDR training through the EMDRIA approved trainer Thrive Learning & Publications.
My focus is working with adult women struggling with disordered eating behavior. I am open to working with clients with a variety of disordered eating behavior however I have most experience working with individuals struggling with binge-eating, binge-restrict cycles, yo-yo dieting, and orthorexia. I have a background in sport and exercise as well and like to support women who love fitness but have struggled with a difficult relationship with movement/food while engaging in their athletic pursuits. This is not limited to "traditional athletes." There are so many people who do not consider themselves "athletes" but that struggle with their relationship with exercise and food and could be dealing with symptoms such as chronic undereating for their activity level, overwhelming hunger leading to binges, and loss of menstrual cycle.
I am currently accepting graduate student interns for supervision starting Summer/Fall 2025.
